A bit of general information and background about Mikmar bits:

The original Mikmar Training Bit was invented back in the early 50's by all-around horseman, Trainer Frank Evans. Evans created an all-around bit for everyday use by amateur riders and professionals that would put pressure on the most responsive pressure points while maintaining a soft, fresh mouth over time. In addition, the Mikmar Training Bit proved a great transition bit from a snaffle to a shank or leveraged bit. Most satisfying to Evans was the fact that the Mikmar Bit protects the horse's mouth when a new rider learns to ride. From these early beginnings, the Mikmar Bit line has grown in scope and popularity to encompass a wide range of bits for suitable for all riding disciplines and available at Mary's Tack.

Nice bit for a young horse

Posted by Virginia Lanzotti on 8th Nov 2022

I chose this loose ring, French link for my 3 yo mare who is newly under saddle after she objected to a standard D-ring which I suspect was poking her in the roof of her mouth due to her having a relatively low palate. She seems much less worried about this bit and seems to like fidgeting with the roller. We sized up a quarter inch given this was a loose ring and it fits perfectly. Shipping was fast, and I'm very happy with my first purchase from Mary's tack and feed!

Received very quickly. Exact same bit that my mare has had for 7 years. She's happy with it.
